In memory of Prof. Dr. Hans-Walter Hennicke, the DKG has been awarding the Hans-Walter-Hennicke Lecture Prize since 1995.

The prize is awarded to the best lectures given by young ceramists and academics during the annual
DKG conference on their final thesis.

  • Eligibility requirements: Submission of a bachelor's, master's, diploma or comparable thesis (excluding dissertations) in the field of raw materials/ceramics, which was defended no more than 18 months ago (i.e. March 2024).
  • All participants in the poster competition are not eligible to participate.

 


 

Please note the following requirements for your application

  •  

The DKG expects you to register in person. You can only register for the competition online at www.2026.dkg.de, providing the following information:

  • Your full name and contact details;
  • Your presentation topic;
  • The name of the institution where the work was completed;
  • The date of submission and defence/examination of your work;

Missing information will result in your application not being considered.

  •  

To apply, submit a short abstract of your work in English with a maximum of 1,500 characters and a maximum of 6 authors. There is no proofreading service. Please ensure that your short abstract is free of errors.

  •  

Only one candidate from each university/institute etc. will be admitted to the competition.
If several applications are received from one research or university institution, the programme committee will ask the head of your institution to make an internal decision/pre-selection.

  •  

Please be prepared to submit your competition presentation to a jury for evaluation in advance.
Each candidate will be notified promptly by the DKG about their admission to the competition via the email address stored in their user account.

  •  

Your short abstract, all presentation slides and the presentation itself must be in English.
Unless otherwise decided by the program committee, presentations should last 12 minutes, followed by a 3-minute discussion. Adherence to the specified speaking time is an important assessment criterion.

  •  

The evaluation criteria for assessing your competition contribution are: 

  • Content
  • structure and presentation;
  • visual aids;
  • presentation style;
  • adherence to speaking time and
  • discussion. 

A jury will award 1 to 4 points for each of these individual criteria, meaning that a presenter can achieve a maximum of 24 points.

A laptop and projector are available as presentation aids. It is not possible to use your own laptop. If you require other aids, please contact the DKG office in advance (by email congress@dkg.de).

  •  
The award ceremony will take place on 15 September 2026 during the conference dinner (the program committee would like you to attend the award ceremony).
